Learning Objectives

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Describe coagulation mechanisms and how dysregulation of coagulation, including dysregulation associated with trauma, can lead to either bleeding or thrombosis.
  • Discuss how bleeding is caused by protein deficiencies or defects in platelet function and how to treat such bleeding with either conventional therapies or newly developed therapeutics.
  • Compare how bleeding and thrombosis are different in children as compared to adults.
