Learning Objectives

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Apply Bayes' Rule and the Likelihood Ratio using a story-like format.
  • Intuitively understand the metrics of sensitivity, specificity, and positive/negative predictive power.
  • Interpret a receiver operating characteristic curve to determine how well a diagnostic test discriminates between the diseased and non-diseased.
  • Explain how positive predictive value correlates with disease prevalence.
