Transplant Endocrinology Virtual Symposium

May 30, 2026

Transplant endocrinology is a specialized field that focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, and management of endocrine disorders and complications that arise in the context of solid organ transplantation. This also involves endocrine care of patients with diabetes receiving pancreatic and Islet cell transplant. These disorders and complications have a significant impact on patient outcomes, graft survival, and quality of life.

Despite the fact that endocrine and metabolic disorders affect more than 40% of transplant recipients, formal transplant endocrine care and programs are very limited or fragmented in the majority of transplant centers. This is a growing field in endocrinology, with a specific focus on the transplant patients’ population. Endocrine-related care of this group is associated with many challenges, including a lack of and longer wait time to access specialized endocrine care, care fragmentation, lack of clinical data, and suboptimal awareness/ training among other health professionals of the endocrine disorder spectrum in transplant recipients. To my knowledge, this symposium will be the first and exclusive dedicated event to address the full spectrum and the intersection of transplantation and endocrine and metabolic complications affecting solid organ transplant recipients, a critical gap in endocrinology and transplant education.

Target Audience

• Endocrinologists and diabetologists
• Transplant medicine specialists, nephrologists, cardiologists, pulmonologists and hepatologists
• Transplant surgeons (kidney, liver, pancreas, heart, lung)
• Fellows and residents
• Primary care physicians managing transplant patients
• Advanced practice providers (Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants)
• Clinical pharmacists specializing in transplant
• Diabetes educators and dietitians
