Breastfeeding Symposium: "Working Together to Support Breastfeeding" - Course and Live Streaming

Breastfeeding education and promotion have been identified as vital components of improving the rate of breastfeeding initiation and continuation. Thanks to a generous donation by Dr. Kathy Hartke and her family, this symposium will initiate a formal breastfeeding educational program for healthcare providers and staff.

The Medical College of Wisconsin is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Medical College of Wisconsin designates this live activity for a maximum of 2.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The Medical College of Wisconsin designates this activity for up to 2.75 hours of participation for continuing education for allied health professionals.

Target Audience

Ob/Gyn providers including faculty, allied health professionals, fellows, residents and students interseted in women's health, CHW pedatricians who see newborns, labor and delivery and postpartum nursing staff, and lactation staff who support and help nursing women.

Learning Objectives

  1. Counsel patients on initation and maintenance of breastfeeding

  2. Identify techniques to assist patients with initiation of breastfeeding

  3. Discusss and implement solutions for patients with challenges surrounding initiation and maintenance of breastfeeding
