Population Sciences Research Program Retreat 2015

Milwaukee, WI US
June 12, 2015

The focus of the 2015 Population Sciences Research Program retreat is two-fold:

  • Reducing health-related disparities in the the MCW catchment area that serves Wisconsin’s minority and underserved populations
  • Building a Population Sciences Research Program for Cancer Center NCI-designation

Our catchment area is home to most of Wisconsin’s minority and underserved populations, and there are significant cancer disparities affecting these communities.  Addressing these needs and disparities should be a major focus for faculty at MCW.

NCI Designation will provide additional support, funding and opportunity for cancer researchers at MCW, and it is important that faculty and staff understand how designation will be achieved.

The Population Sciences program is leading the Cancer Center’s efforts to engage with faculty and clinicians to drive research that impacts our catchment area.  There are significant outcomes projects and registry resources in the Population Science program that can be used to identify opportunities to impact the catchment area for all Cancer Center research programs and members.
