Learning objectives: 

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Review historical perspective on surgical skill acquisition in Ophthalmology and see how training methods have evolved over decades
  • Identify the essential components of skill acquisition which allows modern resident surgeons to master skills in months rather than years and dozens of cases rather than thousands.
  • Establish a perspective to continue developing skills into the future after graduation as a professional surgeon in the rapidly evolving and ever-changing surgical world.
