Learning Objectives

Participants who engage in this learning intervention will be able to: 

  • relate their work with MCW-CW to campus evolution and outcomes.
  • explain the benefits of a regional campus training model for students, preceptors, and the community.
  • assess the impact of the transition to the MCWfusion curriculum on their work with MCW-CW medical students.
  • identify the LCME requirements for clerkships and describe the role of the preceptor in meeting those requirements.
  • identify issues, explore student perspectives, and share experiences and solutions.x
  • complete competency-based student assessment forms to optimize the preceptor contribution to MCW-CW student medical student performance evaluations.
  • describe the value of workplace-based assessments to medical student skills development and promote the use of the Clinical Snapshot tool within their practice.
  • discuss medical student experiences and perspectives and collaborate with students to optimize authentic student engagement and enhance learning opportunities within the clinical training environment.
  • seek feedback on current educational practices to improve future student experiences.
  • employ clinical learning environment concepts like psychological safety, growth mindset, and character to orient learners to their clinical team.
  • assess learners’ professionalism using the framework of character strengths.
  • implement a plan to maximize the impact of feedback on learners’ skill development.
  • provide constructive feedback to support future faculty development sessions.
