Froedtert Mandatory Trainings - Privacy Expectations for Medical Staff

HIPAA privacy laws have been in place for many years.   In addition to HIPAA, new laws have been passed that further restrict how we use and share patient's health information to protect their privacy.  Under the new laws, there are important changes:  If a staff member inappropriately access, uses or discloses a patient's health information, health care providers may be required to disclose the privacy breach in writing to the patient. These new laws have increased enforcement activities.
