The format for this multi-disciplinary conference is case-based discussion. Case-based teaching has long been recognized as a useful, even essential element of medical teaching. This venue allows educators to understand the viewpoints and challenges for students and young physicians, leading to better methods of education for the teacher as well as student. As many of our attendees are faculty, this is an essential element of our Continuing Medical Education (CME) activity. Thus, through this conference, we are able to provide a multidisciplinary, case-based forum that targets the educational needs of our primary audiences: physicians in practice, physicians in training and their instructors.

- Review updated guidelines in diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.
- Evaluate recent progress in Pediatric infectious diseases research, including disease pathogenesis, markers of disease, vaccine development and new therapies.
- Recognize the current status of hospital infection control issues in pediatrics.
- Propose and apply treatment plans for patients with infectious diseases based on current knowledge.
