This series of lectures takes place every Thursday morning from 7:30-8:30 am and is designed to provide ongoing continuing medical education for the Pediatric Surgery Faculty, advanced practice providers and nursing staff, as well as all of our “learners” in pediatric surgery – including our pediatric surgery fellows, residents in general surgery rotating on our service, and medical students. Topics covered generally relate to issues faced by the pediatric surgical patient, and the wide array of disorders that the pediatric surgeon is charged with treating. The multidisciplinary nature of these conferences allows for cross-fertilization of knowledges between specialties who care for the same cohort of patients. Disseminating expert opinion from one specialty to another allows for improvement in medical knowledge among caregivers charged with caring for complex patients that we often treat at a large quaternary referral center.
