Program Description: 

Weekly multidisciplinary conference focused on a variety of pediatric urology topics including pediatric incontinence, congenital urinary anomalies, spina bifida, differences in sex development. Rotating modalities including didactic lectures, case-based presentations and journal clubs with frequent multidisciplinary collaboration from other specialties (i.e. pediatric endocrinology, pediatric surgery, pediatric nephrology, etc). Appropriate for pediatric subspecialists who provide care for children with simple and complex urologic anomalies.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Appraise research studies and their influence on clinical outcomes in pediatric urology.
  • Interpret current scientific literature and discuss its relevance to pediatric urology practice.
  • Critically appraise scientific articles by evaluating study hypotheses, potential biases, and statistical methods in the review of pediatric urology research.
  • Identify study hypotheses, aims, biases, and assumptions within research design.
  • Analyze statistical methods and determine whether findings support study hypotheses and clinical applicability.
  • Evaluate the quality and relevance of newly published research as it relates to patient care and outcomes.
  • Identify reliable sources and strategies for tracking new evidence and advancements in pediatric urology to inform ongoing clinical practice.
  • Critically review new urologic studies to determine the overall strength of the evidence presented and its relevance to their patient population.
  • Analyze and discuss how the research study presented impacts diagnosis, treatment and care of pediatric urologic patients.
  • Apply educational material to current urologic practice in the pediatric urology setting to improve patient care.
  • Identify strengths, limitations, and potential sources of bias in the study under review.
