Learning Objectives

  • To have an increased understanding of the collaborative effort and research projects between the Department of PM&R at MCW and Marquette University Biomedical Engineering in the Stroke Rehabilitation Center.
  • To realize the latest rehabilitation interventions to enhance recovery after a stroke.
  • To understand how timely comprehensive spasticity management can improve function and quality of life after a stroke.
  • Understand how the national opioid epidemic is impacting the way one prescribes medications.
  • To utilize a comprehensive biopsychosocial model to treat chronic pain.
  • To properly prescribe under California Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule (MTUS) guidelines.
  • To increase odds for getting approval for all treatment modalities including therapeutic injections, medications, and other treatment modalities.
  • To identify on physical exam and radiographic studies, prognosis and diagnosis of brain injury.
  • To improve knowledge in therapy and medication prescriptions in acure and chronic traumatic brain injury patients.
  • To identify false positives and negatives on the evaluation process.
  • Participants will learn latst diagnostic skills in spine care disorders.
  • Participants will learn latest treatment options in spine disorders.
  • Participants will learn currently accepted national standards and practice guidelines in spine care.
