Program Description: 
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Grand Rounds presentations are designed to provide continuing medical education for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, residents, medical students, counselors, and other mental healthcare professionals.  This activity will bring the audience up to date on the most current findings and treatment modalities in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders as well as inform them of the newest research areas in clinical psychiatry and psychology.  Our sessions extend via teleconference to mental health professionals in rural WI to areas with our rural psychiatry residencies as well as MCW and rural medical school campuses. 

As an APA Approved Sponsor for Continuing Education, the Medical College of Wisconsin attests that this program has no:

  • Commercial support for CE program, sponsor, or instructor (or any other relationship that could reasonably be construed as a conflict of interest)

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
1.  Describe the foundational underpinnings of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the empirical evidence supporting the use of ACT
2   Introduce and discuss the hexaflex and how it can be implemented in therapy
3.  Review how to use ACT in a clinical setting
