Program Description: 

This conference is intended to enhance the overall fund of knowledge required for the radiation oncologist to treat patients in all oncologic subspecialties and to inform the radiation oncologist on quality delivery of these technologies.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Describe the physical and dosimetric characteristics of particle therapy and their relevance to the treatment of thoracic malignancies.
  • Compare particle therapy with conventional photon-based radiotherapy for selected thoracic cancers, including potential advantages, limitations, and clinical indications.
  • Evaluate current clinical evidence supporting the use of particle therapy in the management of thoracic malignancies.
