Program Description: 
Internalizing disorders, including depression are less likely to be treated in a school-based mental health setting than externalizing disorders.  Yet, the consequences of untreated mood disorders in children can be serious, both emotionally and academically.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Recognize clinical signs and symptoms of depression in children to support timely diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Apply age-appropriate strategies to develop emotional vocabulary and mental health literacy in children as part of therapeutic engagement.
  • Develop evidence-based treatment strategies for managing depression in pediatric patients.
