Program Description: 

This weekly transplant service line lecture serves as an educational forum for team members, providing an opportunity to discuss a variety of clinical, surgical, and system-based topics relevant to transplant care. It promotes interdisciplinary learning, case-based discussions, and continuous improvement in patient management.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Explain the pathophysiologic relationship between elevated right atrial pressure, systemic venous congestion, and kidney dysfunction.
  • Interpret Doppler waveforms of the inferior vena cava (IVC), hepatic vein, portal vein, and intrarenal veins to identify and grade venous congestion using the Venous Excess Ultrasound Score (VExUS) framework.
  • Apply multi-organ point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) findings, including VExUS assessment, to guide bedside clinical decision-making in patients with suspected hemodynamic congestion.
