This weekly transplant service line lecture serves as an educational forum for team members, providing an opportunity to discuss a variety of clinical, surgical, and system-based topics relevant to transplant care. It promotes interdisciplinary learning, case-based discussions, and continuous improvement in patient management.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Differentiate immunoglobulin light-chain (AL) cardiac amyloidosis and transthyretin (ATTR) cardiac amyloidosis, and recognize patterns of cardiac and extracardiac organ involvement relevant to transplant candidacy.
  • Evaluate heart and multiorgan transplant strategies for patients with amyloidosis, including eligibility criteria, hematologic response considerations in immunoglobulin light-chain (AL) amyloidosis, and the role of mechanical circulatory support (MCS).
  • Incorporate distinctions between hereditary and wild-type transthyretin (ATTR) amyloidosis and the impact of modern disease-modifying therapies when determining transplant timing and clinical decision-making.
