Program Description: 

This is a series of ongoing, quarterly educational presentations focused on unique back and neck care topics. The goal of this series is to provide greater awareness of the specialty services offered within the F&MCW network related to the spine and also sharing of best practices from specialty providers.

Learning objectives: 

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Apply evidence-based guidelines to determine when imaging is and is not indicated in patients with acute and chronic low back and neck pain.
  • Determine which clinical red flags warrant prompt or urgent spine imaging.
  • Interpret common MRI findings, including their prevalence in asymptomatic adults, in the context of the patient’s clinical presentation.
  • Select the most appropriate imaging modality for common spine presentations and clinical questions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients about the role and limitations of imaging.
