Acute Care Surgery Symposium 2015
This day-long educational activity is designed to provide updates and general information regarding the practice of emergency general surgery, surgical critical care, and trauma care. The intended audience is primarily practicing general surgeons who would like to improve their knowledge and skills in caring for the acutely ill surgical patient. Instructional techniques will include didactic lectures, small group discussions, expert panel discussions, and case based discussions. Learners will have an opportunity to interact with faculty and ask questions relevant to their own practice and learning needs.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the application of trauma care principles to the emergency general surgery patient
- Describe an evidence-based approach to management of patients with adhesive small bowel obstruction
- Describe an evidence-based algorithm to managing patients with benign urgent biliary tract disease
- Describe an evidence-based algorithm to managing patients with gastrointestinal bleeding
- Discuss evolving principles in critical care management of nutrition, and ARDS
- Discuss the impact of frailty on elderly trauma patient management and outcomes

PARKING
Once on the stadium grounds, follow Selig Drive around toward the east (left-field) side of the stadium. The road will curve back toward the stadium. Complimentary parking is available in the Brewers 2 parking lot on the right.
AARON ROOM AT MILLER PARK
Enter the stadium through the Hot Corner doors on the north-east side (to the left from the parking lots) of the stadium under the vertical “Friday’s” sign. The Brewers Conference Center rooms are accessed by using the elevators in the Hot Corner across from the Team Store and Friday’s Restaurant. Further direction to the Aaron Room is located in the elevators.
