2019 Medical College of Wisconsin & MD Anderson Cancer Center Endocrine Surgery Symposium

Milwaukee, WI US
July 26, 2019

Surgical endocrine disorders are increasing in incidence and the diagnosis and management are increasingly complex, often requiring multidisciplinary care by endocrinologists, radiologists, medical oncologists, and surgeons. Recent studies suggest that the majority of operations are being performed by low-volume surgeons, not in a multidisciplinary setting, and that there are improved patient outcomes when operated on by a high-volume surgeon.

This workshop will highlight the multidisciplinary approach and current national and international guidelines for these complex diseases, including guidelines that have been published within the past year, in an effort to further the discussion on optimal patient care and the importance of multidisciplinary, high-volume care. The intent is for clinicians attending to be able to better develop multidisciplinary programs at their own institutions.
