SA Peer Review is for medical professionals by invitation only. 

The Wisconsin Child Abuse Network (WI CAN) Educational Series consists of statewide, web-based lectures and case-based discussions on various topics related to child maltreatment delivered and led by subject matter experts.  The target audience consists of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, other allied health professionals, law enforcement officials, social workers and attorneys.  The goal of the educational series is to improve the recognition of child maltreatment and management of cases when child maltreatment is a concern.

Learning Objectives

  • Improve detection of child maltreatment.
  • Understand the health care provider’s role in reporting and evaluating children suspected of being maltreated.
  • Appropriately consider other conditions that could be mistaken for child maltreatment.
  • Describe a Wisconsin law that is relevant to the child maltreatment topic.

Nurses who successfully complete each monthly activity will receive 1.0 nursing contact hours.  Nurses who successfully complete each quarterly activity will receive 2.0 nursing contact hours.

Social Work Contact Hours
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, provider #1021 is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program. Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval Period: 1/29/16 through 1/29/19.

This workshop fulfills Continuing Education requirements for the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services for the State of Wisconsin for Social Work certification and licensure under MPSW 19.
For nonsocial work credentialed or licensed staff; of other academic disciplines – please check with your licensing/regulatory board for CEU approval.

Social workers participating in this course will receive 1.2 continuing education clock hours.
