Program Description:
This presentation explores some common epistemological frameworks underpinning global health initiatives in the global south. It will argue that these frameworks raise an ethical concern as they sustain research, education, and medical delivery that generate conflicts in local realities shaped by different worldviews. The presentation raises the question of whether an epistemic liberation is necessary for global health initiatives to achieve their goals of health promotion that contribute to the empowerments and independence of local communities.

Bioethics and Medical Humanities Grand Rounds provides a forum for teaching participants to resolve cases based on the best ethical practices. Bioethics and Medical Humanities Grand Rounds also provides information on any legislative changes that occur so that clinicians are ready to implement them. The Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities is the only clinical ethics center in Wisconsin.
