ForwardThese free courses will provide the physician with information to attain a better understanding of Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) and related disorders. This will enable the physician to more readily recognize these complex conditions with often perplexing presentations and delineate treatment strategies. Any healthcare providers interested in learning more about EDS diagnosis and treatment are encouraged to view the presentations whether or not they desire the CMEs.
Content will be provided by leading experts in the field with varied backgrounds. Their sharing of experiences with these frequently misdiagnosed and often misunderstood conditions will help decrease misdiagnosis and late referrals for intervention. They will address the differential diagnosis of EDS and related disorders as well as associated conditions such as dysautonomia. Many medical disciplines encounter patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and related disorders. Misunderstandings regarding these conditions are still prevalent despite many recent advances in the field. Therefore, this curriculum is very timely and is essential learning for physicians in most every area of practice.
The backbone of this course is the mandatory introductory lecture which provides an overview of these debilitating disorders. The balance of the programs address more specific areas of study pertaining to the care of patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and related disorders and may be viewed in any sequence. These programs contain general content within each medical discipline along with related cases studies which embody important clinical and diagnostic features. In addition to the audio and video content, transcripts will be provided in the future for each program in order to provide an optimal learning environment for an on-line course of this nature.
1. Materials presented will include updated criteria for Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and related disorders to enable the learner to accurately diagnose and treat patients with these and associated conditions (eg POTS - postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, MCAD - mast cell activation disorder). This includes explanation of the various symptoms and methods to diagnose/treat Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and associated comorbidities.
2. The learner will be able to recognize the signs, symptoms and related associated conditions of EDS. Learn to manage the patient’s condition and/or direct the patient to the specialist and/or treatment services needed.
3. There will be a questionnaire provided to assess the learners understanding of the information.
