Program Description: 

Review/discussion of complex, drug-resistant epilepsy patients and ancillary diagnostics such to discern salient surgical options as an alternative to medication therapy.

Learning objectives: 

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Distinguish drug-resistant epilepsy from other epilepsy presentations and compare appropriate surgical approaches for treatment in adult and pediatric patients.
  • Select and justify appropriate ancillary diagnostic tests (neuroimaging, electrophysiology, neuropsychology/language testing) to inform surgical decision-making for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy.
  • Formulate consensus surgical recommendations for individual patients with drug-resistant epilepsy during multi-disciplinary case conference discussions.
