  • Why are platelets like immune cells
  • How do platelets and immune cells interact
  • Understand the link between and division of haemostasis and host defence
  • Appreciate the critical role of IgG in mediating platelet activation in response to both gram negative and gram positive bacteria
  • Identify the key platelet receptors involved in triggering activation following interaction with gram negative and gram positive bacteria
  • Understand the importance of using fluid shear in studying the interactions between platelets and bacteria
