20th Annual John S. Gould Lectureship/Scientific Program
The 20th Annual John S. Gould Lectureship/Scientific Program aims to advance the knowledge and science of orthopaedic surgery, encourage practice-based research to improve patient care and promote lifelong learners. This lectureship features a Visiting Professor who is an expert in their field followed by residents and fellows highlighting their research conducted during their career at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
The effectiveness of this symposium will be demonstrated by successful outcomes in our patient care through a greater understanding of the following: facet fusion to posterolateral fusion, hindfoot gait, outcomes shoulder arthroplasty in metabolic syndrome, Dupuytren’s contracture following injection, surgical knots, radiation exposure, effects of anesthesia on total shoulder arthroplasty outcomes, salvage latissimus dorsi tendon transfer, interdigital neurectomy for interdigital neuromas, vascularized olecranon bone graft, novel foot orthosis for pediatric flatfoot, calcaneal fractures, elite athlete foot and ankle injuries, and ligamentous injuries. These are just a few of the research topics to be discussed today.

The Medical College of Wisconsin designates this activity for up to 4.25 hours of participation for continuing education for allied health professionals.
Target Audience
This lectureship has been designed for the alumni, faculty, resident, fellows and allied health professionals of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and for anyone in the community interested in ongoing orthopaedic research.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the course, the participants should be able to:
- Discuss research results and how they may impact patient care
- Recognize new clinical research for orthopaedic patient care
- Critically review and examine new clinical science research developments in orthopaedic surgery
- Promote the exchange of ideas and encourage collaborations in orthopaedic research
