Milwaukee, WI US
June 20, 2025

The 28th Annual John S. Gould Lectureship/Scientific Program is a research day aimed at advancing the knowledge and science of orthopaedic surgery, encouraging practice-based research to improve patient care, and promoting lifelong learners. This lectureship highlights research conducted by residents, fellows, and faculty at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW).

Target Audience

Orthopaedic alumni, faculty, residents, fellows, medical students, and allied health professionals interested in orthopaedic surgery research.

Learning Objectives

Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:

  • Describe barriers in high school sports, such as coaching dynamics, trust in health care, and the availability of athletic trainers that may affect an athlete's disclosure of a musculoskeletal injury.
  • Identify the proper location to place a syndesmotic tightrope during surgical fixation of a syndesmotic injury.
  • Articulate expected patient outcomes following a revision rotator cuff repair as compared to a primary repair.
  • Review the effect of the anterior approach on dynamics to improve rehabilitation pathways and preoperative counseling.
  • Describe the concept of computer-navigated component positioning in total hip arthroplasty, and compare this technology to robotic total hip arthroplasty.
