An Update on Gynecologic Pathology

Florence, FI IT
May 20, 2015 to May 22, 2015

“An update on Gynecologic Pathology” has been planned to provide the most comprehensive in-depth updates on selected topics in the field of Gynecologic Pathology.

The first day of the Conference will be devoted to Endometrial pathology. In this module the course Lecturer will focus on endometrial cancer precursors by reviewing morphologic criteria to distinguish pre-neoplastic from neoplastic lesions. Moreover, an overview of inherited gynecologic cancer syndromes with emphasis on Lynch syndrome will be provided to attendees. A slide seminar session which illustrates participants by a practical approach didactic and challenging cases to show salient features and potential diagnostic pitfalls in endometrial cancer diagnosis will conclude the first course module.

The second day of the Conference will be focused on Mesenchymal Tumors of the Uterus and Adenocarcinoma of Cervix. In particular, this session will provide a comprehensive overview of the most often used antibodies in the differential diagnosis of common lesions/tumors involving the female genital tract. The course Lecturer intends to highlight problematic aspects in the interpretation of these antibodies in specific scenarios in which the correct diagnosis is important for patient management. During the second conference day two slide seminar sessions will offer participants a more practical approach and exemplifications of presented topics. Participants will be encouraged to informally discuss cases.

The third day of the Conference will be dedicated to update knowledge of Ovarian cancer and of Pathology of Female Peritoneum focusing on both common and uncommon problems. Particular attention will be paid  to diagnosis of metastatic lesions to Ovary and ovarian serous neoplasms. A slide seminar session will conclude the conference.
