The Pediatric Multidisciplinary Solid Tumor Conference goal is to offer consensus recommendations for treatment of specific patients. Coming to a consensus recommendation overcomes barriers such as lack of knowledge or experience on the part of any single provider as it relates to the case at hand. It also provides an open format for discussion of treatment options.
This particular Tumor Board includes review of radiology images and pathology slides. This constantly promotes practice of reading these, and allows multi-disciplinary collaboration as to their interpretation. Knowledge of the radiology thought process informs the pathologist’s thought process; ditto the surgeon and chemotherapist.
