Bronchiolitis
Currently, there is no standardized graduate education or certification program for APNs or PAs focusing on Pediatric Hospital Medicine. APPs graduate their educational programs with a wide range of clinical experiences and variation in the quality of their training. APPs require “on the Job” training to build competency. There are published recommended competencies in pediatric hospital medicine for physicians in training by currently there are no corresponding recommendations for training APPs.

Learning Objectives
After completing this learning session, providers will be able to:
- Explain the epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical manifestations of bronchiolitis in infants and children
- Define the scientific evidence relevant to diagnostic and therapeutic strategies currently available in the management of bronchiolitis
- Critique alternative pharmacologic strategies currently being evaluated
- Implement the CHW clinical practice guideline for treatment of infants and children with bronchiolitis
- Define factors that predict clinical deterioration of the infant with bronchiolitis
