The 2016 Neurofibromatoses Conference
This conference focuses on all aspects of a group of genetic diseases collectively known as the neurofibromatoses. These condition are relatively rare and have no effective treatment as yet. In addition to finding treatments, there is also a great need for improvements in diagnosis, biomarkers of disease progression, and clinical management of the many features of these conditions, especially in the adult population.
The lack of a standard approach to medical management of these conditions impacts our ability to provide proper medical surveillance and evidence-based treatment. In addition, the lack of effective surgical or pharmacological options leads to many people with NF living with pain and disability over their lifespan. Adults with NF are particularly neglected medically because most NF clinics are pediatric focused.
