The American Academy of Otolaryngology – Health and Neck Surgery published clinical practice guidelines in July 2013 regarding Tympanostomy Tubes in Children.  Despite tube placement being a common ambulatory surgical procedure, no clinical guidelines were established until now.  This course was designed to address the knowledge gap of physicians who do may not know the clinical guidelines are available. To improve patient outcomes, learners need to read the clinical practice guidelines and be provided strategies on how to make changes to improve their clinical practice on the when, why and how of Tympanostomy tube placement in children. We want those unfamiliar with the guidelines to become familiar.  We want physicians to more effectively critically evaluate cases when tube placement may or may not be appropriate.
