APP Centralized Orientation Sessions
The orientation is comprised mostly of newly graduated Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assistants. Their educational programs are more generally based. This centralized orientation builds upon that foundation to help these new grads how to order and interpret labs, appropriate ordering and interpretation of films/scans, how to give succinct hand-off, consultations, reports, how to place NG bridles, how sepsis should be recognized/triaged and how to appropriately document and bill at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
Having a centralized NP/PA orientation utilizing the expertise of many experienced MDs/ NPs and PAs will:
- Increased confidence and competence of new nurse practitioners and physician assistants
- Mastery of skills necessary to be contributing care team members
- Fostering autonomous practice
- Decreasing feelings of inadequacy and confidence leading to decreased retention/turnover
