Wauwatosa, WI US
February 3, 2017

This workshop is designed to provide an overview of complex issues that forensic psychologists and psychiatrists may encounter in conducting competency to stand trial evaluations of adult defendants.   Research literature and case examples will be used to illustrate effective strategies for addressing complex diagnostic questions, refusal or avoidance of interviews and contradictory information yielded by evaluations and communicating evaluation findings to the court.  Ethical and clinical issues often involved in assessing complex cases will also be considered. The current status of outpatient competency restoration programming (OCRP) in Wisconsin and how to make a referral to this program will also be reviewed.
