Topics for School-Based Mental Health Practice
THIS SERIES IS NOT OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
This series of presentations is designed to provide continuing education for psychotherapists who treat children and adolescents in a school-based practice by learning to work with educators and student support services as therapeutic allies.
Target Audience
Psychologists, social workers, counselors, and other allied mental health professionals
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe positive psychology interventions which can be used therapeutically to improve mood and increase resilience in students who have been referred for behavioral health issues
- Learn how culture and race affect the expression, diagnosis, and treatment of behavioral health problems in marginalized populations
- Recommend behavior management strategies for escalating behavior to teachers and otehr school building staff
