Program Description: 
Disruptive events in the home, including domestic violence are harmful to a student’s emotional wellbeing as well as their academic functioning.  Clinicians will learn strategies for working with students whose lives have been impacted by this issue.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Describe how domestic violence impacts a child’s capacity for trust, self-regulation and coping.
  • Explain how domestic violence may affect classroom behaviors and academic achievement.
  • Design classroom and therapeutic supports for reducing the negative effects of domestic violence.
