Program Description: 
School-based mental health practice is unique from clinic-based practice and has many benefits as well as challenges.  This series of continuing education sessions is designed to prepare clinicians providing mental health services in schools to practice, consult and train within the educational system.

Learning objectives: 
Participants who engage in this educational intervention will be able to:
  • Learners will Identify strategies for educating school staff on mental health issues as measured by school staff responses to a survey about their felt competence in this area.
  • Participants will Analyze the different disciplines that are in schools and how to embed themselves in this interdisciplinary team. Therapists will report their perception of working on the ‘team’.
  • Participants will Discuss about different cultures and how they intersect with health. They will be able to apply this in their work with patients. This will be measured by surveying patients on their perception of the treatment.
