CPD Resources for Activity Directors
The CPD office encompasses all Continuing Medical Education (CME) at MCW, but it also is designed to assist you in creating outstanding educational products for learners that are other faculty or community partners (e.g. primary care physicians, advance practice providers, community specialists, etc). Some of the following are areas where we can help:
- Building evaluations of your session - this is usually best done as you are designing the session
- Creating on-line content for your session, especially for parts that are asynchronous (e.g., the educational event is recorded prior to when it is viewed, and/or question/answer session with the audience are managed after the session is complete)
- Suggesting learner assessments to provide metrics of session value
- Identifying external stakeholders that may offer grants or funding for your project
- Getting your session approved for your board’s Maintenance of Certification
- Awarding CME credit for your session
The goal of our office is, simply: if you have an idea for an educational project, you will feel comfortable contacting us to help you build it, whether a fully fleshed-out project, or just an inkling of an idea. We encourage you contact us as early as possible in your process, so that we may facilitate creating the optimal educational experience desired, and can help you determine a time frame to achieve your goals (some of the steps, such as awarding CME or MOC, can take up to 6 months to get all the approval confirmed). We can help streamline the process, and look forward to working with you.
