Program Description:

Our research focuses on identifying and administering high-quality cost-effective care and health improvement strategies to improve health care to patients seeking care at primary care clinics; and to conduct community-engaged research to address root causes that contribute to health disparities among at-risk populations in, and beyond, Milwaukee.

This educational activity is designed to improve knowledge about research methodologies and techniques for conducting effective primary care and community-engaged research, and the application of research findings in efforts to improve health and reduce disparities for vulnerable patient populations. Seminars are also designed to foster collaborations and provide attendees’ an opportunity to gain valuable feedback regarding primary care and community-engaged research.

The CHCR/Primary Care Research Fellowship Grand Rounds is a forum for students, fellows, staff, and faculty to share and obtain feedback on their research, providing critical opportunities to improve attendees’ ability to conduct effective primary care and community-engaged research. Collaboration fostered in the Grand Rounds holds promise for improving attendees’ ability to address the following barriers: 1) community-engaged research challenges; 2) systemic barriers that result in health disparities among at-risk communities. Attendees will be able to leverage colleagues’ experience to better conduct community-engaged and primary care research. Community-engaged research requires a particular set of partnership skills distinct from traditional research; this in-person forum provides an ideal venue for the transfer of these valuable skills.
